PRESENTATION B11
BackEXPLAINING KM TO ENGINEERS - PB'S JOURNEY TO KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT MATURITY
Cory Banks
Manager Knowledge Systems, PB Australia Pacific, QLD
PB is an interesting beast. Built over the last 100 years through expansion, mergers and acquisitions, it finds itself providing a range of planning, environmental, transport and engineering services across the world.
With this growth (doubling headcount in the last 2 years) comes change and with recent successful ventures, PB Australia Pacific finds itself with an opportunity to invest in it's future.
This led to the creation of a role to discover and improve the Knowledge Systems that exist within the culture, practices and technology of the organisation.
This presentation will provide an insight into the challenges and experiences of bringing together disparate parts of the organisation which had responsibilities in managing information and knowledge in their silos, to develop a model that provides a single source of information and knowledge management support combining records management, content management, libraries and knowledge management capabilities.
You'll be introduced to the framework developed to show the synergies and relationships between these IM & KM disciplines and see some of the programs that have been undertaken including Knowledge Strategy, Knowledge Networks, Library Structure, Records Management Practices, Enterprise Content Management, Knowledge Leadership, Global Intranet Rollout, Library Management System and Lessons Learned Management.
Summary:
To share the experience and lessons learned from designing and implementing a Knowledge System in an organisation including the blending of knowledge management, records management and library functions.
This presentation will touch on a number of Content Streams including:
- Knowledge and Content Management

- Information Management
