The pirate inside us: in the depths of copyright
Published by Michelle at 09-Sep-2010 19:47 in General

The internet is altering our requirements and our consumption habits.

Deutsche Bank, 24 Aug 2010

Extract from report: The tide of information online is rising inexorably. Second by second, terabyte upon terabyte of new images, songs, films and other forms of digital content are being uploaded onto the internet. New digital content is being created, consumed, modified, shared and disseminated virally with no loss in quality at low cost.

Calculating ROI
Published by Michelle at 04-Sep-2010 14:38 in General

You may already be familiar with Brian Herzog’s Library Use Value Calculator.

If not, it’s a web calculator that makes users/clients/patrons aware of how much they would pay, out-of-pocket, for services the library provide. Giving them an idea of our value.

It’s public library centric, but with your input, one can be created for Australian Libraries. It can be easily embedded into your website, or on a page in the wiki. Maybe you have already created something like this for your Library? If you have, we would love to hear about it.

Just imagine how much it would cost your patrons (time, money) to get the services you provide if you were not there?

The calculator can be viewed here.
An explanation of the values used can be viewed here.
